Location and host: The host institution, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, has one of the longest established programs teaching Chinese to foreign students in China. Its main campus is situated in the heart of the city, ideal for students to integrate into local society. Located 120 kilometers from Beijing, the capital of China, Tianjin is the third largest city, with an area of 11,000 square kilometers and a population of 12 million residents. The people of Tianjin are well known for their hospitality, generosity and colorful customs. The city is the industrial and commercial center in the region and boasts the biggest comprehensive port in north China. Recently the central government has an ambitious plan to build Tianjin Binhai New Area - about four times bigger than Shanghai’s futuristic Pudong New Area - into a third economic powerhouse after Shenzhen and Pudong of Shanghai.
Course Credit: 9 Miami credits in six weeks. Elementary level Chinese CHI 101 (4), 102 (4), Intermediate level Chinese CHI 201 (3), 202 (3), Advanced level Chinese CHI 301 (3), 302 (3), Culture course on contemporary China CHI 277 (1 or 3) are all available.

Cost of the Program: $1500 program fee plus Miami tuition and fees. The $1500 program fee covers room, board, and organized trips in China. A deposit of $300 is required at application
