Diminutives are formed by adding a -lein or -chen on nouns to express smallness of size and/or endearment. Other examples include Brötchen, Brüderchen, and Muttilein.

All diminutives are neuter. The plural forms show no change in the noun: das Brüderchen, die Brüderchen.
