Welcome to Miami University for the 2009 MCAA!

The East Asian Studies Committee and I are very proud of having the MCAA here on campus in this bicentennial year of Miami University. The last time MCAA met on this campus was a quarter century ago. Many things have changed since then -- now we have the Japanese/Chinese minor, the East Asian Language and Culture major as well as the East Asian Studies minor.

During the three days, in addition to the panels on a variety of topics, several special events will be held, including the AAS president, Dr. Hefner’s keynote address at the banquet. Also, in conjunction with MCAA, we will host the MJS (Midwest Japan seminar) and Teachers’ Workshop for K-12.

Our campus is at its most beautiful in the fall. We welcome you all and wish you the very best and a stimulating and memorable conference here in Oxford.
