AWARDS FOR STUDENTS OF GREAL
The Gisela Bahr Award is presented annually
to a graduating German major who is selected by the faculty
as "most outstanding." Criteria of selection include
excellent overall academic record and commitment to the
study of German language, literature and culture as
demonstrated by research projects, study abroad, and
leadership in German student activities.
The Marion Lee Miller Award is made to the student
considered the most excellent at each of the four
instructional levels (100, 200, 300 and 400).
The Jacques Breitenbucher Scholar-Leader Award is
given every other year to an outstanding female continuing
German major, who will be named a Scholar-Leader and live
rent-free in a student room in Stoddard Hall.
The Erich Steiniger Memorial Scholarship is
awarded for academic excellence to a continuing German
major each year. Awardees are nominated by the faculty and
selected by a faculty committee. Awards are presented at
the department awards ceremony in May each year.
