HENRY MONTGOMERY TRAVEL AWARD
Internal Award
The Henry Montgomery Travel Award is intended to help
students meet travel costs associated with participation in
Classics-related programs. Such programs may involve (but
are not limited to) archaeological fieldwork, study abroad
during the summer or school year, or participation in
intensive language study programs in the United States and
abroad. This award of $1000.00 is made possible by the
generous support of Henry Montgomery. Normally there will
be only one recipient, but in some cases, the award may be
divided.
Applicants must be Miami Sophomores or Juniors who are
pursuing majors or minors within the Department of Classics
and who have attained a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5 in their
Classics Department courses.
This is a two-step process. Applicants should submit a
pre-proposal and a tentative budget to their departmental
advisor by December 1st. The proposal should describe how
they will be using the travel funds and how the summer
experience expands their classroom study of the ancient
world and relates to their plans following graduation from
Miami. The final proposal, approved by their advisor, must
include:
*A two-page (maximum) essay
*A one-page (maximum) proposed budget
Recipients will be expected to provide a report of their
experiences in writing upon completion of their project.
