HENRY MONTGOMERY TRAVEL AWARD
Internal Award

The Henry Montgomery Travel Award is intended to help students meet travel costs associated with participation in Classics-related programs. Such programs may involve (but are not limited to) archaeological fieldwork, study abroad during the summer or school year, or participation in intensive language study programs in the United States and abroad. This award of $1000.00 is made possible by the generous support of Henry Montgomery. Normally there will be only one recipient, but in some cases, the award may be divided.

Applicants must be Miami Sophomores or Juniors who are pursuing majors or minors within the Department of Classics and who have attained a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5 in their Classics Department courses.

This is a two-step process. Applicants should submit a pre-proposal and a tentative budget to their departmental advisor by December 1st. The proposal should describe how they will be using the travel funds and how the summer experience expands their classroom study of the ancient world and relates to their plans following graduation from Miami. The final proposal, approved by their advisor, must include:

*A two-page (maximum) essay
*A one-page (maximum) proposed budget

Recipients will be expected to provide a report of their experiences in writing upon completion of their project.

Deadline for final proposal : TBA.
