president (Benjamin Harrison) to the nation's poet
laurate (Rita Dove), Miami's alumni have shaped its
rich history spanning nearly two hundred years.

liberal education core complements the more
specialized studies of the majors.

undergraduates and 1,700 graduate students on the
Oxford campus; approximately 2,700 students on the
Middletown Campus and approximately 3,400 students on
the Hamilton Campus.

8.65 percent of the first-year class and 8.2 percent
of the undergraduate student body (based on Fall 2005
enrollment).
Degree Programs: Miami offers the
bachelor's degree in over 100 areas of study and the
master's degree in more than 50 areas; Miami also
offers a number of doctoral degrees. Several
associate's degrees are available through study on
the regional campuses.
Graduation Rates: According to 2004
data, 68 percent of Miami's multicultural students

nationally. The latest NCAA data shows that Miami's
graduation rates are among the highest nationally,
ninth among NCAA Division I public universities (80
percent), and first in Ohio.
Cost: For 2006–2007, tuition
and fees for undergraduates total $22,943 per year;
Ohio residents receive a minimum of $11,080 in Ohio
resident scholarships. Room and board charges are

automatically considered for scholarships. In the
2006 first-year class, 21 were selected for Harrison,
339 for Honors, and 766 for Oxford Scholars.

ends late December; second semester begins early
January, ends early May. Four Summer sessions are
also offered and are staggered throughout the summer
months from May through July.
Faculty: Miami has the highest percentage of
full-time faculty teaching courses of any public
university in Ohio (Ohio Board of Regents, 2004).
This allows students many opportunities to conduct
research with a mentoring professor. The
undergraduate student/faculty ratio is 16:1, and the
average class size is 22 (based on Spring 2005
enrollment).

Miami's Richard T. Farmer School of Business 17th
among the top undergraduate business schools in the
nation. (2006)

the Oxford campus are bordered by gracious
Georgian-style buildings, inspiring poet Robert Frost
to declare our campus "the most beautiful college
there is."
